There are several ways to clear TIF (Temporary Internet Files):
1. In IE go to Tools | Internet Options and in the Temporary Internet files section click on Clear Files. For a thorough job check the box to Clear offline content.
2. For a more thorough job, with Windows 95 or Windows 98 boot to a DOS (Command) prompt. In Win95 press F8 as soon as the screen shows "Starting Windows 95...". For Win98 hold down the Control key as soon as the memory check ends until a menu appears.
When the C:> prompt appears type these commands, pressing <Enter> at the end of each line:
cd\windows
smartdrv
deltree tempor~1
Answer y to the dialog that comes back if you typed correctly. The command will normally take several minutes to complete, even more if you leave out smartdrv. If you have User Profiles you will probably have to use the 'cd' command to navigate to your profile.
3. Use this program by Walter Clayton to clear TIF on the next boot. It will locate the TIF folder for the current user and only clear that one:
This is a zipped file and will have to be unzipped with WinZip or something similar. When unzipped run the VBS file. It requires that Windows Scripting Host be installed.
