Bath Set

This bath set consists of four pieces knit in
embossed diamond pattern with a single crocheted edging.
1. A bath mat. 2. A washcloth. 3.
A hanging hand towel. 4. A soap sack, adapted from a pattern by Joanne Box and
available at http://www.woolworks.org/patterns/soapsack.txt.

Materials:
worsted weight, 100% cotton yarn, I used Peaches & Cream, 2 cones for
the whole set.
Needles:
US size 7 and 10 straight needles, one set size 7 dp needles, size G and
J crochet hooks.

2: p1, k1, * p3, k1, p1, k1, p3, k1, rep from * ending with p1.
Row
3: k4, * [p1, k1] 2x's, p1, k5, rep from * ending last repeat k4.

4: p3, * [k1,p1] 3x's, k1, p3, rep from * to end.

Bath
Mat (finished size approximately 28" square):
Using 2 strands of
yarn and size 10 needles, cast on 93 sts. Work
in EDP for 14 repeats. Bind off in
p. Edging: with 2 strands of yarn and size J crochet hook, sc
around edge being careful that the material remains flat (that is not puckered
or fluted), making 3 sc in each corner. Join
with sl st to 1st sc. Fasten
off and weave in yarn ends.
Washcloth (finished
size approximately 11" square):
Using 1 strand of
yarn and size 7 needles, cast on 43 sts. Work
in EDP for 74 rows. Bind off in p. Using 1 strand of yarn and size G crochet hook sc around edge
being careful that the material remains flat (that is not puckered or fluted),
making 3 sc in each corner. Join
with sl st to 1st sc. Fasten
off and weave in yarn ends.
Hanging towel
(finished size approximately 15" square for towel section):
Using 1 strand of
yarn and size 7 needles, cast on 63 sts. Work
in EDP for 10 pattern repeats. Next
row: k across. Next row: * k1,
k2tog, rep from * to end. Next row:
k across. Next row: k2tog across
(21 sts). Work even in garter
stitch (k each row) for 28 rows. Bind
off in k. Using 1 strand of yarn and size G crochet hook sc around edge of
towel, beginning at top and working down one side, across the bottom, and up the
other side. Be careful that the
material remains flat (that is not puckered or fluted), making 3 sc in each
corner. When you get to the top of
the towel work 2 sc, ch 4, skip 1 space, sc to last 3 sts, ch 4, skip 1 space, 2
sc to end. Join with sl st to 1st
sc. Fasten off and weave in yarn
ends.
Soap sack (this is
a small bag that holds a bar or pieces of soap and substitutes for a washcloth.
Hang it near the shower or bath for easy access.)

Using 1 strand of yarn and size 7 dp needles, cast on 40 sts, divide on 3
needles and join.
