Designed by Mary J. Saunders

This is a summer dress or nightgown that fits 18" dolls such as the Magic Attic dolls as seen in the picture.

Materials:     J&P Coats Luster Sheen yarn, 1 - 50 gm ball

One set of 4 dp needles size 3

                     Crochet hook, size D

                     18" - 1/8" ribbon

Cast on 72 sts.  Divide on 3 needles, being careful not to twist work.

Rnd 1: K to end.

Rnd 2: K to end.

Rnd 3: *K1, yo, k2tog, repeat from * to end.

Rnd 4: *P1, yo, p2tog, repeat from * to end.

Continue working these 4 rnds for pattern until piece measures 5 1/2" from beginning, ending pattern rnd 1.

Next rnd, decrease rnd: *K1, k2tog, repeat from * to end (48 sts).  Redistribute sts on needles: 15 - 18 - 15.  Continue working in pattern, starting with pattern rnd 3 until piece measures 1" above decrease rnd, ending pattern rnd 1.

Work pattern rnd 2 across 24 sts for front of gown.  Loosely, bind off next 24 sts for back.  At this point you will work back and forth as if with single pointed needles.

Next row, pattern row 5, same as pattern rnd 3: work across front 24 sts, turn work.

Next row, pattern row 6: *K2tog, yo, k1, repeat from * to end, turn work.

Next row: K each st, binding off 3 sts at beginning of row, turn work.

Next row: P each st, binding off 3 sts at beginning of row, turn work.

Repeat pattern rows 5 and 6 once.  Bind off loosely.

With crochet hook attach yarn to right front top corner.  Ch 50 and end off.  Repeat at left front corner.  Tie these ends around back of doll's neck.  Weave all yarn ends on inside of work.

Weave ribbon through eyelet immediately above decrease rnd and tie in front.
