Jack-Glow-Lantern

Up ]

This fiberfill toy is just the thing for Halloween.  It is a 9" ball to toss plus the face, worked in duplicate stitch, will glow in the dark.  "Nightlights," from Fiber Fantasy, provides the accent and will glow for 4 hours after only an hour exposure to a 40-watt bulb.

 Designed by Mary J. Saunders

At this point stop knitting and work Jack-Glow-Lantern face in duplicate st using Nightlights, glow-in-the-dark yarn, and tapestry needle over 26 st face area of stockinet st.  Follow the picture or create your own face.  Note: the Nightlights doesn't come loose easily so there is really no need to weave in the loose ends, just leave them on the inside of work.  Also sew the little hole at the beginning of work and bring end of yarn to inside of work and secure it.

Rnd 47: * p1, k2tog tbl, k until 2 sts before next p st, k2tog, repeat from * to end of rnd (56 sts).

Rnd 51: * p1, k2tog tbl, k to next p st, repeat from * to end of rnd.

Rnds 52 - 55: repeat rnds 50 & 51 twice (16 sts).

Rnd 56: k, break off orange.  Leaving work on needles, stuff with fiberfill to desired firmness.

Rnd 57: Join green and k2tog to end of rnd (8 sts).

Rnds 58 - 65: k.

Rnd: 66: k2tog to end of rnd (4 sts).  Cut off yarn and pull end of yarn through remaining 4 sts, removing them from needle.  Secure end.
