Irish Rose Bun Cover

 (This little snood is crocheted with an Irish Rose and is green for the Irish.  The first time I wore it was during our trip to Dublin in 1998 during the St. Patrick's Day Festival.)

 

 

Yarn: J. & P. Coats Luster Sheen, small amount in green

Needles: U. S. steel crochet hook: 0/3.25mm

One elastic hair band (the kind used for pony tails)

 Ch 5, join to form a ring.

Round 1: Ch 6, dc in ring, * ch 3, dc in ring, repeat from * twice, ch 3, join in 3rd st of ch.

Round 2: Ch 1, * 1 dc, 7 tr c, 1 dc in next ch 3 loop, sc in next dc, repeat from * all around.

Round 3: * Ch 6, sc in next sc in back of petal, repeat from * all around.

Round 4: * 1 dc, 8 tr c, 1 dc in next loop, sc in next sc, repeat from * all around.

Round 5: * Ch 6, sc between 4th and 5th tr c in back of petal along the base ch, ch 6, sc in next sc in back of petal, repeat from * all around end at base of 1st loop.  Sl st along first three sts of ch (this will take your work to the top of the loop).  Ten loops.

Round 6: * Ch 6, sc in same loop, ch 6 sc in next loop, ch 6 sc in next loop, repeat from * all around end at base of 1st loop.  Sl st along first three sts of ch.  Fifteen loops.

Round 7: * Ch 6, sc in next loop, repeat from * all around, end at base of 1st loop.  Sl st along first three sts of ch.  Fifteen loops.

Round 8: * (Ch 6 sc in next loop) three times, ch 6 sc in same loop, repeat from * all around, ending with (ch 6, sc in next loop) two times, end at base of 1st loop.  Sl st along first three sts of ch.  Nineteen loops.

Round 9: Ch 6, sc in next loop, repeat from * all around, end at base of 1st loop.  Nineteen loops.

Round 10: Ch 1, sc twice in each loop all around, join with sl st to 1st sc, 38 sts.

Finishing: Ch 1, working over elastic band, sc in each sc all around, join with sl st to first sc, fasten off.
