Hair Scrunchie

(I wanted to use up small bits of leftover yarn by making hair scrunchies and I wanted to knit them right on the hair elastic. This little pattern filled my need.)
Materials:
small amount. of sport weight yarn
large pony tail elastic
crochet hook size F/5
dp knitting needles size 5
Sl st
yarn to pony tail holder, ch 1 to form 1st sc.
Sc 41 more times around pony tail holder, join to ch 1 with sl st.
Rnd 1:
Place loop of yarn on dp needle and count as 1st st.
Pick up and k 1 st in each sc around through back loop.
Arrange 14 sts on each of 3 dp needles.
Rnd
2: K1, *yo, k2, rep from * to last
st, k last st. You should have a total of 63 sts with 21 sts on each needle.
Rnd 3:
K each st.
Picot bind off: Bind off 2 sts. Turn the work, cast on 2 sts using cable cast on method (insert right hand needle to left of st on left hand needle bring loop of yarn around front of st on left hand needle and place on left hand needle in front of st; repeat by inserting right hand needle between sts on left hand needle bring loop of yarn between 2 sts and place on left hand needle), there should be 3 sts on left hand needle, turn work and bind off 2 sts on right hand needle by passing them individually over 1st st, one picot made. *Bind off three sts. Make picot sts. Repeat from * until all sts worked. Fasten off yarn and weave in ends.
