Twine RugDesigned by Mary J. Saunders One time my husband decided to buy a 4 lb. bale of twine to have around the house. He accidentally bought 12 bales. Being himself, he wouldn’t return them saying, “We’ll find a use for them.” Years past and they still sat around so I decided to try knitting with the twine. I created a rug to put on the front porch.
Materials: 4 lb. Bale of twine Pair of knitting needles US size 13 2 - 36” long dowels, ¼” diameter Gauge: not applicable Finished size: will vary, mine is 33” x 56” Cast on 72 sts. Work in garter stitch (knit each row) until 6-9ft. of twine remains. Bind off. Insert a dowel in each short end and cut to fit (this keeps the edges from rolling so the rug lays flat).
